Ndejje University (NDU) is a private Christian university located in Kampala, Uganda. NDU was established in 1992 and gained its university status in 1995 under the ownership of the Anglican Diocese of Luweero.

Ndejje University (NDU) is a private Christian university located in Kampala, Uganda. NDU was established in 1992 and gained its university status in 1995 under the ownership of the Anglican Diocese of Luweero.

Later in 2002, its ownership base was expanded to include all six church of Uganda Dioceses in what became known as Ndejje University Foundation Consortium, which is responsible for appointing the Chancellor, the vice-chancellor, and chairperson of the Council including members of the University council.

In 2009, the university was chartered by the national council for Higher Education (NCHE) of Uganda signifying that the certificates awarded by the university will be recognized nationally and internationally.

Ndejje University stands firm on its core values which it sets as Integrity, Hard work, Teamwork, God-fearing, Respect and Creativity. The University has three campuses; the Main Campus, Lady Irene Campus, and Kampala Campus.

Ndejje University is the oldest private university in Uganda. Its ambitions are to provide Christian based high quality and innovative teaching, research and outreach services. NDU has been ranked 2nd best university twice among public and private universities in Uganda and 1st among the private universities in the past three years.

The University won the Uganda Responsible Investment (URI) award as the best private University in Uganda in 2012, which was based on its best education and training practices and services.

In 2016, NDU was the first chartered private university to introduce sign language teaching in Uganda as it boosts hope for the deaf. In the same year, an international survey revealed Ndejje University as the second most popular institution of higher education in the country.

In 2018, a water research and development centre was opened by the Ndejje University to the benefits of its students and local communities by providing practical experiences in the area of irrigation, geographic information system (GIS), and water testing. The university also houses Uganda’s first renewable energy technologies demonstration site.

The University is known to be outstanding in sporting activities especially at inter-university sports competitions both in Uganda, East Africa and the world University games and was crowned the overall winners of the 2019 Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) games.

Ndejje University houses three campuses which have several resources to assist the students and staff in carrying out their daily activities on campus. The university campuses have a library, which has more than 30,00 volumes of books. It also has administrative blocks and other academic and administrative facilities.

Internet services can also be accessed on the campuses. NDU has an ICT service which is used in the computer laboratories and connects existing wireless infrastructures, solutions to ICT related challenges, access to the LAN and ICT policies.

The university has a well-equipped security team working in harmony with Ugandan Police Force and communities in order to maintain law and order as well as man security checks at the campus and building entrances.

Ndejje University has graduated prominent alumni like Bahati Remmy – Journalist, Birungi Sandra – Teacher, Bridget Shamim Bangi – Ugandan badminton Player, Norah Nyendwoha Bigirwa – Legislator, and Francis Zaake – Businessman.

 Admission Requirements
For Undergraduate Degree Programmes
 Applicants applying for an undergraduate programme must have the following:
•  At least 5 Passes at “O” Level (UCE) or its equivalent and two relevant Principal Passes at “A” Level obtained at the same sitting.
•  Post “O” Level Diploma / Certificate with at least 2 year’s relevant experience in the desired field.
•  Except when specifically provided in special faculty requirements, all subjects offered by the Uganda National Examinations Board are regarded as approved subjects for entry.

For Undergraduate Diploma Programmes
•  At least 5 Passes at “0” level (UCE) or its equivalent and •  One relevant Principal Pass and two Subsidiary Passes obtained at the same sitting at “A” Level (UACE) or it’s equivalent. OR
•  Post “O” Level Diploma / Certificate.

For Advanced Certificate
•  At least 3 Subsidiary Passes obtained at “A” Level or C+ at Form 4 in the 8-4-4, education system.

Mature Age Entry
• All candidates who may have attempted “A”-Level and fail to get two principal passes but have relevant working experience, may seek admission to the University.
• Candidates who hold a Diploma with relevant qualifications (e.g. in education, business administration, etc) may seek admission.
• Candidates, who hold several certificates and have relevant experience, may also seek admission for the course relevant to their experience.

*Also, candidates who fail to get principal passes at “A”- Level or international students who don’t meet the minimum entry requirements can be admitted to the “Advanced Certificate Course” for one year. When they score an average of 60% in the final examinations, they may be admitted for the degree course in the following year.

Postgraduate Requirements
For a Masters Diploma
A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited University in a subject or subjects relevant to the course applied for.

For Masters Degree
• A Bachelors’ degree or postgraduate diploma from an accredited University in a subject or subjects relevant to the course applied for.

For DBA or PhD Degree
• Applicants must be holders of Master’s degree or any other related programs from a recognized University.
•  Practitioner Experience: Applicants must have management experience of at least three years pre – or – post Masters.

Application Procedure
Prospective students should apply through the online admissions portal before the deadline date as it is communicated by the Admissions office.
The application can also be carried out physically by Paying the application fee, collecting, filling and return the application forms to the Academic Registrar’s Office at either Main or Kampala Campus with copies of “0” Level (UCE), “A” Level (UACE) and other relevant Pass Slips and Certificates and one coloured passport size photograph.

Kampala is the capital city of Uganda and the largest in the country. It is located in the southern part of the country, just north of Lake Victoria. Kampala existed as far back as the 19th century, north of the capital of what was then the Buganda Kingdom.

In 1890 Kampala was selected as the headquarters of the Imperial British East Africa Company.

The British fort on Old Kampala Hill remained the Ugandan colonial administrative headquarters until 1905 when it moved to Entebbe. Kampala became a municipality in 1949, and when Uganda gained independence in 1962 it became the capital.

The City has a tropical rainforest climate, and does not have a typical dry season, but rather two annual wet seasons. Annual average temperatures go from 17.8 degrees Celsius to 27.8 degrees Celsius. The period between February and June experiences the heaviest amount of precipitation.

The total population of Kampala is over 3.2 million, with a diverse ethnic population drawn from all parts of the country, as well as neighbouring countries like the DRC, Rwanda, South Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia and even India and China.

Kampala is situated in the country’s most prosperous agricultural section and is an exporter of coffee, cotton, tea, tobacco and sugar. The city’s industrial status is second only to Jinja, and it has numerous food, metal products and furniture enterprises, and its informal sector is a large contributor to the local GDP.

Known as the green city in the sun, Kampala is reported to be among the fastest-growing cities in Africa and has been ranked the best city to live in East Africa. It is home to the Kampala Business and Industrial Park, the industrial hub of the city located not far from the central business district.

The city also houses the Uganda Museum and the Uganda National Theatre. It also boasts a prominent cultural centre, the Ndere Cultural Centre that aims to promote Ugandan and African music, dance and drama. The city hosted the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2017.

Kampala harbours several places of worship, including mosques, Hindu temples and Christian churches; the Old Kampala National Mosque can accommodate 12000 worshippers; the Namirembe Cathedral is one of several stunning views in the city, as well as the Baha’i House of Worship.

It is the hub of the nation’s road network, and it lies on the railway line that goes from Kasese to Mombasa. It is also served by Port Bell on Lake Victoria and Uganda’s International Airport in Entebbe.

Home to several higher education institutions like Makerere University, the International University of East Africa, Cavendish University Uganda, Kyambogo University, Kampala International University and Kampala University, the city proves favourable to students who wish to study in the city.
