The Ethiopian Aviation Academy is located in the town of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Other universities located in this town include Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa Institute of Technology, St. Mary’s University and Addis Ababa Science and Technology University.

Addis Ababa also spelt Addis Abeba, is the capital city of Ethiopia, and also the largest. It lies at the foot of Mount Entoto. The city was founded in 1887 when the wife of Emperor Menelik II, Empress Taitu, persuaded her husband to put aside land for the nobility.
It initially acted as a military encampment, but by the time of Italian occupation, it had become the capital of Italian East Africa. It came under Italian rule in 1936 and was liberated in 1941, with the return of Emperor Haile Selassie. The climate of the city is a subtropical highland climate, with average annual temperatures from 9 degrees Celsius to 23 degrees Celsius.
Addis Ababa’s total population is well over 4.5 million inhabitants. As the capital of the country, it is multi-ethnic in nature, representing all ethnic groups across Ethiopia. The largest groups include Amhara, Oromo and Gurage. Amharic is the most spoken first language, followed by Afaan Oromo.
Addis Ababa’s economy thrives on the diversity of its inhabitants’ activities, including trade and commerce, manufacturing and industry, civil administration, transport and communication, education, health and social services, hotel and catering services and agriculture.

Addis Ababa is the administrative hub of Ethiopia, and it houses the Headquarters of the African Union, a role it has performed since 1963. It is regarded as Africa’s diplomatic capital. The official seat of government is located in Emperor Menelik II’s Imperial Palace.
The city also counts the Museum of the Institute of Ethiopian Studies, the National School of Music and the National Library and Archives. The Dembel City Centre, located in the city, is one of the first western-style malls to open in Ethiopia.
Notable architecture in Addis Ababa includes the Huda Tower, Nani Tower, Bank Misr Building and the Angola World Trade Centre Tower. The AU Conference Centre and Office Complex are equally visible along the city’s skyline.
