This degree programme is offered in the Department of Development Studies. It is designed to prepare students to be able to acquire knowledge and skills that will enable them to face dynamics and challenges of a globalized world.
The problems include offering courses with the same contents but different names and codes; some core courses offered by different department which made it difficult for the department to manage its students and their progress.
This review is particularly attempting to address the mentioned challenges which will eventually correct the existing gap and introducing new courses which will consider the need of student in specific degree program. Therefore, the programme is tailored with reference to Tanzania’s experience on social and economic undertakings which suggests for the need of short and long term solutions.
Direct Entry
Two principal passes in History, Geography or Economics at A‟ level and at least a “D” grade in Mathematics at O‟ level or two principal passes in Science subjects.
Equivalent Entry;
Diploma in Project Planning, Community Development, or Development Studies with an average of “B” or GPA of 3.0 and four passes at O‟ level.

Tuition Fees for Tanzanian Students = 800,000 TZS
Tuition Fees for International Students = 1,959,642 TZS
Students from countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), also pay the same fee as local Students. The 16 Countries in the SADC region include: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
NOTE:
– All students are required to pay full tuition fees for the year. Payment by installments will only be permitted under special arrangements. It is the responsibility of the students to arrange for the payment of fees by the sponsor or the Higher Education Students‟ Loans Board (HESLB). No student will be allowed to use University facilities before payment of the required fees.
– Students who fail to pay will be expelled from the university.
