It is a health care profession whose prime purpose is to restore and maintain function, enhance capacity in physical activity and prevent injury or illness through information and advice on healthy lifestyles. Physiotherapists are primary healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the oldest, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions, illnesses, or injuries that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities.
A Physiotherapist examines and develops a management plan to address the patients’ problems that promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. Further, Physiotherapists conduct research in various field of medical and social research to influence practice and policy.
Entry requirements:
a) Meet the minimum University entry requirements and shall have obtained a mean grade of at least C+ at K.S.C.E. or its equivalent and passed with at least a “C+ “in the subject clusters indicated.
(i) Alternative A: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, English or Kiswahili
(ii) Alternative B: Biology Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, English or Kiswahili
In addition the applicant must meet specific college and university requirements
b) Candidates who hold prior learning in Physiotherapy from a recognized Medical Training Institution from a recognized Institution or its equivalent as recognized by JKUAT will upon admission and request in writing for evaluation of accumulated credit for transfer upon submission of official relevant documents as per the JKUAT University CATS Policy.
In addition, the candidates MUST be registered with the Kenya society of Physiotherapists (KSP). Foreign trained physiotherapists must be registered with their respective physiotherapy bodies in their respective country of training. They must also be compliant with all the KSP requirements in Kenya before registration

– A dully filled registration form – to be obtained from the offices/website upon payment of non-refundable fee.
– Two passport size photos.
– Copies of relevant certificates

**EAC (East African Community) Students pay the same amount as Kenyan students. Countries in the East African Community include; Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
NOTE: The tuition fees charged, may vary from programme to programme and from time to time, with foreign students paying 20% more that the Kenyan students.
