Programme Overview

The need for modern evidence-based medical social work services by medical social workers with impeccable case management capacities is on the rise. This is due to the high prevalence of modern day chronic non-communicable and lifestyle diseases in Kenya as well as road traffic accidents disability and poverty.

The bachelor of science in medical social work will not only contribute in enhancing the standards of health care services in the region, but will also help institutions of higher learning churn out razor sharp researchers.

This is in line with the changing trends of healthcare services that now focus more on evidence-based practice of which medical social work education and practices embrace. The program will immensely contribute towards achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) 1, 3 and 8. These are to: “eradicate poverty in all its forms everywhere”, “ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages” and to “promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all” respectively by 2030.
