The overall objective of the programmes offered in this department is to prepare a cadre of high quality understanding in economics. Graduates should be able to use analytical knowledge and skills for effective economic planning and policy formulation in the context of Tanzania and beyond.
The programmes content has been selected after taking into account the country’s current economic issues i.e. the country’s need for good planners and policy makers in monetary issues, public finance, international trade, agriculture and industrial development, etc.
Learning and teaching methods, process and criteria for assessment, reference materials core and optional elements have been determined on the basis of the nature of the courses and on what other universities in the country (UDSM) and in the world are doing.
Direct Entry;
Two or more principal passes in any of the following subjects: Physics,
Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography, Economics, History, Commerce or Accountancy. In addition, a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics /Basic Applied Mathematics or at least a credit pass in Mathematics at O‟ level is required.
Equivalent Entry;
Diploma in Economics, Accountancy, Commerce, Banking and Finance, or Tax Administration with an average of “B” or GPA of 3.0

Applicants are required to lodge applications directly to the University of Dodoma through the UDOM Online Admission System (OAS) at https://application.udom.ac.tz.
**An Application fee of 10,000 TZS, is expected to be paid by all Applicants

Tuition Fees for Tanzanian Students = 1,000,000 TZS
Tuition Fees for International Students = 2,765,760 TZS
Students from countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), also pay the same fee as local Students. The 16 Countries in the SADC region include: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
NOTE:
– All students are required to pay full tuition fees for the year. Payment by installments will only be permitted under special arrangements. It is the responsibility of the students to arrange for the payment of fees by the sponsor or the Higher Education Students‟ Loans Board (HESLB). No student will be allowed to use University facilities before payment of the required fees.
– Students who fail to pay will be expelled from the university.
