Programme Overview

On successful completion of the program the graduate should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of concepts of:
(i) Anatomy
(ii) basic and applied research methods used in Anatomy
(iii) normal structure and functions of organs of healthy animals and
(iv) etiology, pathogenesis, clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment of the common anatomical disorders that occur in animals.

EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES AND ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
There shall be two exit points. Successful completion of all CORE and ELECTIVE courses but without engaging in the research part of the programme will qualify a candidate for award of a Postgraduate Diploma in Anatomy. Successful completion of all CORE and ELECTIVE courses and research part of the programme will qualify candidates for award MSc. Anatomy. Regulations pertaining to coursework evaluation shall be as per SUA general regulations and guidelines.

YEAR ONE
First Semester:

Core Courses
– Research Methods, 10 credits
– Statistics and Data Management, 10 credits
– Histochemical Techniques, 10 credits
– Histochemical Techniques, 8 credits
– Clinical  Anatomy, 10 Credits

Elective Credits
– General Anatomy, 10 credits
– Genomics, Proteomics and Bioinformatics, 8 credits
– Instrumentation, 6 credits

Second Semester:
Core Courses
– Comparative Functional Anatomy, 10 credits
– Systemic Anatomy, 10 credits
– Anatomical Techniques, 10 credits
– Forensic Science, 10 credits
– Research Innovations Management and Commercialization, 10 credits

Elective Courses
– Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry, 9 credits
– Comparative Wildlife Anatomy, 9 credits
– Avian Anatomy, 4.5 credits
– Molecular Developmental Biology, 4.5 credits
– Quality Assurance and  Laboratory Management, 6 credits

Credits for Research Proposal Writing
– Research Proposal Writing, 15 credits

Credits for Dissertation Writing
– Dissertation, 45 credits

Admission Requirements

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
Registration for courses shall be as per SUA general regulations and guidelines. To be admitted into this programme, the candidates must have attained at least level 8 of higher education training levels and hold a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Science from SUA or from a recognized institution with a distinction or credit in Anatomy subjects.

http://www.sua.ac.tz/postgraduate-application-forms. Application forms can also be requested from the Director’s Office through drpgs@sua.ac.tz or postgraduate.students@sua.ac.tz. Such dully-filled forms can be returned physically or mailed to the undersigned together with evidence of payment of Tanzanian Shillings TZS 50,000/= or US$ 20 for international students as application fee (normal application ) or TZS 80,000/= or US$50 for international students (for all late applications ). Payments should be made through A/C NO. 0150076769860 CRDB Bank: Swift Code No CORUTZTZXXX.

(b) Online application through http://suasis.sua.ac.tz:9092/index.php/welcome. Make sure that all relevant academic and financial documents are attached before final submission is made.

Tuition Fees per year for Tanzanian Students = 3,550,000 TZS
Tuition Fees per year for International Students = 9,658,862 TZS

NB: The Tuition fees per year for all Students is an addition of the First Semester Fees: 3,700,000 TZS (Tanzanian Students), 4,325 USD (International Students) PLUS the Second Semester Fees: 3,400,000 TZS (Tanzanian Students), 4,025 (International Students), then Divided by TWO.
