Programme Overview

Programme Description
The Bachelor of Science Agriculture Education Programme is basically a general agriculture-centred programme designed to equip students to teach the core subjects in general agriculture and to undertake any practices or services that involve the salient knowledge, skills and attitudes of general agriculture.

Target Group
The programme is intended for:
•      SSSCE/WAEC Certificate Holders
•      Agriculture/Forestry Certificate holders
•      All who want to train in the field of Agriculture?

Admission Requirements
Entry Requirement:
SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate Holders
SSSCE Candidates 
Must have Six (6) credit passes (A-D) comprising three (3) Core Subjects, including English Language,
1. Mathematics and Integrated Science), plus
2. at least a credit pass in Chemistry and
3. A credit pass in any two (2) of the following electives: Physics, Biology, General Agriculture, Animal Husbandry OR Horticulture OR Forestry, Elective Mathematics.

WASSCE Candidates
– Must have Six (6) credit passes (A1-C6) comprising three (3) Core Subjects, including, English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus
– at least a credit (A1-C6) in Chemistry and
– credit passes in any two (2) of the following electives: Physics, Biology, General Agriculture, Animal Husbandry OR Horticulture OR Forestry, Elective Mathematics
Mature Applicants
– Must be at least 25 years by 1st August of year one wants to apply.
– Must hold:
(a) Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ OR
(b) SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate OR a Certificate of Professional training from a recognized institution.
– Must pass the UEW Entrance Examination.

Diploma Candidates
– Must possess a Higher National Diploma (at least Second Class Lower) or its equivalent in a relevant subject from a recognized institution.
– Must pass an interview.

General Certificate of Education, Advanced Level (GCE “A” Level)
Five (5) credit passes at GCE “O” Level including English Language and Mathematics in addition to  two (2) “A” Level passes other than General Paper in the following: Physics, Chemistry, Biology OR Agricultural Science, Mathematics.

Application Fees for Ghanaian Students: $44
Application Fees for International Students: $100

Applicants Should Follow the Guidelines below:
In all cases, the following documents should be attached to the completed online application forms:
– Copies of certificates
– Copies of Transcripts of academic record
– One recent passport-size photograph
– Three referees’ reports. (To be submitted directly by referees to) The Dean, School of Graduate Studies = UEWP.O. BOx 25WINNEBA

Applicants should note that:
-No application will be processed unless all requirements are fully met
– Any change of address must be communicated at once to the Dean, School of Graduate Studies
– A change of programme after submission of application forms will NOT be allowed
– ALL certificates and results slips other than those from the West African Examinations Council, the Universities in Ghana and Institutions accredited by the National Accreditation Board, should be cleared with the Accreditation Board and the evaluation report attached to the certificate(s)
– All applications must be submitted online at www.uew.edu.gh

After graduation, graduates can be employed as:
– Teachers in the Basic and Second Cycle Schools
– Agricultural Extension Officers
– Rural Development Practitioners
– Project Officers in the Banks, NGOs etc

Tuition Fees per year for Ghanaian Students = 6,508GHS

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The Tuition Fees for International Students, is divided into FOUR main categories:
Tuition Fees per year for West African Countries = 16,865GHS (West African Countries include; Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo)
Tuition Fees per year for Other African Countries = 19,023GHS
Tuition Fees per year for Carribean countries = 21,181GHS
Tuition Fees per year for All Other Foreign Countries = 23,345GHS

NOTE: Included in the fees of Final Year Students are;
– Congregation fee of GHS350.00
– Alumni dues GHS10.00
